I am hard working, passionate and enjoy teaching/ coaching students from all ages, cultures and religious backgrounds. As a teacher and sport coach my goal is to help students improve academic performance, understand and appreciate themselves as unique individuals. I strive to be non- judgmental and take care not to impose my values on the students, since values are personal. I am a firm believer to educate the whole person, not just the mind.

I am a qualified Multi Sport Coach, TEFL English Teacher with 20 hours practical teaching experience at Rufaine Donkin Primary School. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, socializing with family and friend and fun outdoor activities. I have been coaching sport in English to students who are native speakers of Xhosa, Afrikaans and I am a multi- sports coach by profession and am a strong believer of hands – on learning by simultaneously activating the mind to learn new skills and by doing so educating the whole person, not just the mind. I completed my TEFL 140 hour International English Teaching certificate on 17 March 2021 because of my desire and belief to make a positive impact on student lives. I am currently busy completing my practical teaching hours at Rufaine Donkin Primary school. I am also a volunteer Sunday School Teacher at All Saints Anglican Church. . My qualifications and experience include being a Learn to Swim instructor, Professional Lifeguard, Level 2 cricket coach, certified FIFA accredited sport manager and Level 1 first aider with CPR & AED. I have coached sports at school as well as club level both males and females including private coaching sessions. During the 2006/07 December holiday season, I was appointed the regional beaches supervisor in the Knysna district. I supervised 6 beaches and approximately 18 lifeguards and during that time no drownings occurred. Some of my strengths include building meaningful relationships with students and I have learned through coaching students from different cultures, religions and backgrounds that we all learn differently because we are all different. I was a junior academy cricket coach at Gelvandale Cricket Club from 2012 until 2014, where international players like Alviro Petersen, Ashwell Prince, Robin Petersen started their club cricketing career. I also played at the highest club cricket level for Gelvandale which is Premier League. I was head coach at Northern Cavaliers cricket club from January 2018 until November 2019. During that time we were finalists in the annual Nelson Mandela Bay Mayoral Cup T20 Promotional club cricket league. I have come to learn that students have different learning styles, which makes it all the more important for me as a Qualified sports coach and almost qualified English teacher to identify it by means of continual assessments and evaluations to improve academic and sport performance. My goal as a sports coach and English teacher is to help students understand and appreciate themselves as unique individuals who accept complete responsibility for their feelings, thoughts and actions. As a sports and physical exercise coach I strive to be non – judgmental as my teaching style is directly related to my philosophy of what it means to know, teach and learn. Much of what I learn and believe as a sports coach and soon to be qualified TEFL English teacher, comes from my own experiences as a student, my own professional experiences and the images of teaching it holds. I enjoy being able to get students actively involved from a young age as I come to learn and understand that students construct knowledge through gathering and synthesizing information and integrating it with the general skills of inquiry, communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The digital age has also helped educators and students to be more creative and build confidence whether it is in teaching or learning environments. My future plans would be to study a Bachelor of Honors Degree in Business Management next year at the University of South Africa since I already obtained quite a few qualifications including a National Certificate in Business Management and Sport Management. I am hoping to find home at an educational institution that aligns with my sport coaching, physical education and English teaching philosophies. Zulu. I am also a volunteer Sunday School Teacher at All Saints Anglican Church since 2019. I have come to learn as a sport coach/ teacher, that we all learn differently because we are all different.
